Renewable energy and GHG mitigation policies

Miriam is a co-founder of SiNERGi Renewable Energy GmbH.

Currently, she works for GIZ as a project leader for the Energising Development (EnDev) Programme in Rwanda.


Miriam works at the nexus of climate politics and renewable energies in the following core areas:

  • International climate policies and emissions trading

  • Deployment policies and business models for renewable energy services
  • Results Based Financing

  • Rural development

  • Trainings und moderation
  • Impact-orientated M&E

Since 2004, she works as a technical consultant on short- and long-term assignments for various customers (e.g. GIZ, BMU, BMWi and German Agro Actio). In addition, she works as a trainer and moderator for workshops having a focus on energy and climate issues. She has teaching experiences at New York University Berlin, Potsdam and Tuebingen University and at the ICAP Summer Schools. She has given numerous presentations and lectures at national and international forums. Miriam has participated in various COPs since 2006 and is well connected in the international climate community.

Miriam gained methodological expertise in the field of international development cooperation during her post-graduate studies at the Centre for Rural Development (SLE, Berlin). In parallel to writing her PhD, Miriam has worked at the research fellow at the research centre on "Governance in areas of limited statehood" and worked on a project on the CDM governance in Brazil, India and China. She completed her PhD thesis on "Evaluating the effectiveness of provincial CDM centres in China – lessons learned for capacity development“.
